Manage live campaigns from the ads manager

Turn ads on and off, change budgets, duplicate and delete, build a whole Meta campaign and set automated rules, without opening the platform's own ads manager.

Manage live campaigns from the ads manager

The Ads manager tab shows every campaign on the ad accounts linked to the project, each with its ad sets and ads, with spend, results and cost per result for the period you picked.

Before you start

  • Link the ad account to the project from Integrations and accept the ad-management permission when connecting. Without it the account shows as View only.
  • You need permission to edit the project.

Steps

  1. Open the client's project, choose Ads & performance, then the Ads manager tab.
  2. Click the arrow next to a campaign to see its ad sets, and next to an ad set to see its ads.
  3. Use the switch at the end of a row to turn it on or pause it. Turning on asks you to confirm, because it starts spending the client's budget.
  4. From the row's Actions menu: Change budget, Rename, Duplicate (paused) or Delete.
  5. To build a campaign click New campaign: pick the objective and budget, then the audience (locations, age, gender, interests, saved audiences, placements), then the ads (image, video or carousel, text, headline, button), review and click Create on Meta.
  6. To add an ad set to an existing campaign, or an ad to an existing ad set, use New ad set or New ad in the row's menu.
  7. In Audiences you can create a website-visitor audience from the pixel, or a lookalike of an audience you have.
  8. In Automated rules set a rule such as: "if an ad's cost per result is more than 100 over the last 3 days and it spent at least 300, pause it".

Good to know

  • Building campaigns and audiences from here works on Meta. On Snapchat and TikTok you can turn ads on and off and change budgets.
  • The Meta connection is still being rolled out, and you may see "Feature Unavailable" when connecting. If so, open a support ticket.
  • A new campaign is created paused unless you choose Running right away in the review.
  • If a build stops halfway (for example Meta rejects an ad), click Finish creating: it continues where it stopped without repeating what was already made.
  • Rules run after every refresh of the numbers. Each item is changed at most once a day, and a budget never moves more than 50% at a time. The project team is notified of every change.
  • Every change is recorded in the Optimisation log on the Optimisation tab.
  • Customer lists (emails and phone numbers) are uploaded in Meta's own Ads Manager, not here.
