Check tracking and send real results back to the ad platform

Before you optimise a campaign, make sure its measurement can be trusted. Upcycle reads the tracking setup on the ad platform, tells you what is broken and how to fix it, and can report real sales results back to the platform.

Before you start

  • Link the client's ad account, page and pixel to the project.
  • Route the client's lead forms to the project, so leads arrive with their campaign: open Integrations in the project menu, then the Lead forms tab, and press Route a form.

Steps

  1. Open the client's project and choose Ads & performance from the project menu.
  2. Open the Tracking tab and press Check now.
  3. Read the Tracking health score. Each check is marked Healthy, Needs attention or Broken.
  4. Open How to fix on any check that is not healthy and follow the steps. Then press Check again.
  5. To send results back, scroll to CRM outcomes back to the platforms and turn on Enable feedback for this project.
  6. For each stage, Qualified lead and Won deal, choose the Meta event and the Dataset (pixel) to send it to.
  7. Press Save settings.
  8. Open the Leads tab to see every lead that came from the ads, with its campaign, status and sales outcome. Sent results are listed under Conversions sent to the platforms.

Good to know

  • The check only reads. It never changes anything on the client's ad account or website.
  • Sending results back is off until you switch it on and choose where each stage goes.
  • The pixel list is filled by the check. If the list is empty, run Check now first.
  • A result is sent once, when a lead becomes a deal and when a deal is won. The email and phone are sent in hashed form, not as plain text.
  • If some results fail to send, an alert appears on Overview. Open Leads and press Retry.
  • The Leads tab compares the leads the platform reports with the leads that really reached you, and shows cost per lead and return from deals actually won.
  • A lead with no campaign beside it usually came from a form that is not routed to the project, or from a link without UTM tags.
