The profit and loss report shows what your company earned and spent in a period, and what is left as net income. It is part of full accounting in the Professional plan.
Before you start
- You need the Professional plan or higher. On Starter, the report links appear in the menu with a lock.
- Your user needs permission to view financial reports. The workspace owner has it.
Steps
- Open Accounting from the side menu.
- Under Financial reports, click Profit and loss. You can also click All reports and choose Profit & loss statement.
- Choose the From date and To date, then click View report. If you do not choose, the report runs from the start of this year to the end of this month.
- Read the four totals at the top: Total revenue, Total expenses, Gross profit and Net income.
- Scroll down to see Revenue and Expenses broken down by category.
- Click Download PDF to save or share the report.
Good to know
- The report is built from your accounting ledger. An invoice counts as revenue from the moment it is sent or marked as sent. A draft invoice is not counted.
- If a period shows no revenue, check that the invoices for that period were sent and are not still drafts.
- What Starter includes: invoices, recurring invoices, payments and receipts, the customer list and the accounting settings (tax rate, payment methods).
- What Professional adds: the financial reports (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, tax report and others), vendor bills and vendors, purchase orders, bank accounts and reconciliation, transactions, the chart of accounts, budgets and cost centers.
- Some reports and pages are shown only to larger workspaces. If a page listed here is missing from your menu, contact support.
- For prices and the full comparison, see the plans page.
