A role decides which parts of Upcycle a person can open. An employee sees only their own work. Money, sales, campaigns and company reports are opened by giving the matching role.
Before you start
- You need to be the workspace owner or an admin.
- The person must already be in your workspace. See the article about inviting your team.
Steps
- Open Settings from the side menu, then Team members.
- Find the person, open the menu on their row and press Change role.
- Choose the new Role, for example project manager, accountant, marketer or sales rep, then press Save.
- To add roles made for your field, open Roles and permissions under People in the settings menu.
- Under Roles for your industry, press Add role on the role you want. It then appears in the role list when you invite someone or change a role.
- Under Module access, tick the modules each of your added roles can open, then press Save Permissions.
Good to know
- With the employee role, a person sees the projects they created, manage or are a member of, their tasks, the team, messages and their own attendance and leave.
- Accounting, sales, advertising campaigns and financial or company-wide reports stay hidden unless the role includes them.
- The owner and admins see everything.
- The standard roles that come with Upcycle are fixed. In the Module access table you can change only the roles you added.
- Building a role of your own from scratch in the Advanced editor needs the Professional plan.
- You cannot change your own role. Ask another admin.
- A role controls access. It does not delete anything: when you give access back, the data is still there.
